I've been waiting for the bluebells in Princes Coverts to flower for a couple of weeks and as expected, whilst I was in Las Vegas last week they decided to get started. Looks like they were at their peak a couple of days ago.
Thank you for your comments about the proposed introduction of on street charging and would you please note that I am replying on behalf of all County Councillors to whom you sent your comments. Your enquiry has been recorded and will be included along with any representations we receive during formal advertising. The only decision that has been made so far is to carry out a formal consultation and advertise our intention to introduce on-street charging. The proposals including locations of parking bays for each district will be formally advertised in turn. We will look carefully at all the comments that we receive as a result and recommend any changes that are considered necessary or appropriate. The formal consultation for Elmbridge, which includes Claygate, starts on the 3 March 2011 and will be open for 28 days. Notices will be placed in the local press and erected on site. For further details covering the whole county please see our website – a link is shown below. This includes the Cabinet Member paper which explains why we are considering charging and there are also detailed plans for all areas. http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/sccwebsite/sccwspages.nsf/LookupWebPagesByTITLE_RTF/On+Street+Charging+Proposals?opendocument The webpages provide much detail but it is worth emphasising that a key benefit of on-street charging is vehicle turnover. This has a number of advantages including increased ability for shoppers or visitors to find a parking space. As part of the consultation process for the Claygate area, officers will engage with the Elmbridge Local Committee on the 28 February 2011. If you require further information on the local committees please see our website, again a link is below. Feedback from local committees will be formally considered before any decision is made.
http://www.surreycc.gov.uk/sccwebsite/sccwspages.nsf/LookupWebPagesByTITLE_RTF/Local+committees?opendocument When our proposals are formally advertised, all comments received will be investigated, collated and reported to the Surrey County Council Cabinet for final decision. I hope this information is useful. Regards
